HMA Christmas Charity Auction
Every year the Hotel Marketing Association holds a fundraising event for a selected charity. This year the HMA luncheon will be raising money for Shelter. Shelter is the UK's leading housing and homelessness charity. They operate local solutions which work to improve the lives of over 170,000 homeless and badly housed people a year. There was a 200,000 rise in the number of UK children living in poverty last year. Homelessness affects children's health, their education and their life chance. Just a small donation can give a child a future to look forward to.
A number of organisations and companies have kindly donated numerous prizes to help raise money for such a worthy cause. By bidding for some of these great donations you could help change the future of the increasing number of children growing up in poverty.

After taking up the sport in 1988, Ade Adepitan was a member of the Great Britain team that won bronze at the Athens Paralympics in 2004. The following year he played a key role as GB beat Australia to win the inaugural Visa Paralympic World Cup in Manchester and was honoured with an MBE in the Queen's Birthday Honours list.
Earlier this year he announced his retirement from international action but took up a new challenge by competing in the London Marathon.
As well as his sporting achievements, Ade has worked as a presenter for BBC Television and starred in the CBBC series "Desperados".

Sir Henry’s boxing career began at the tender age of 9 and resulted in him winning 73 of 84 amateur fights. Representing Great Britain at the Olympic Games in 1952 he went on to create a record by holding the British Heavyweight title for 10 years and five months, defending it eight times and becoming the first man ever to win three Lonsdale belts.
He is probably best remembered for his fights with Cassius Clay in 1963 and again with the re-named Muhammad Ali three years later. The Queen recognized his achievements in 1969 awarding him with an OBE.
In his last fight in 1971 he faced the emerging British Heavyweight Joe Bugner for the British, European and Commonwealth belts losing by a quarter of a point and announced his retirement shortly afterwards. He knew when to retire.
He is the first sportsman to be awarded with the BBC Sports Personality of the Year twice in both 1967 and 1970. Sir Henry continued his career in commentating becoming the voice of British boxing.
Today Sir Henry is seen not only as a great athlete but also as an icon and role model to many sports fans. BRUT will also be making a charitable contribution to the London Ex-Boxers Association and Repton Boys Club to support their philanthropic activities in 2009.
His outstanding achievements led to Sir Henry becoming the face of the BRUT in the 1970s when it was launched in the UK, partnered by footballing legend Kevin Keegan and Motor Cycle World Champion Barry Sheen encouraging real men to ‘Splash it all over’.

Marcus "Bosse" Grönholm (born February 5, 1968 in Kauniainen) is a former Finnish rally driver. Driving for Peugeot, he won the World Rally Championship in 2000 and 2002. After Peugeot withdrew from the World Rally Championship, Grönholm moved to Ford for the 2006 season and placed second in the drivers' world championship, losing the title to Sébastien Loeb by one point. The next year he again placed second, four points behind Loeb. He and his co-driver Timo Rautiainen retired from rallying after the 2007 season but returned to the championship in 2009 driving a private Subaru for a short period of time.
Grönholm also won the 2002 Race of Champions, taking home the Henri Toivonen Memorial Trophy and earning the title "Champion of Champions". At the 2006 Race of Champions, he formed team Finland with Heikki Kovalainen and the pair won the Nations' Cup.
